Forty-five first responders from eight local fire agencies in Utah are heading to the southeast in response to Hurricane Helene.
Members of Utah Task Force 1 were called upon early Friday and were quickly packing up gear and equipment to head out by mid-afternoon.
Part of the deployment for Hurricane Helene are members of Unified Fire Authority, Salt Lake City Fire Department, Park City Fire District, West Jordan Fire Department, South Jordan Fire Department, Provo City Fire & Resuce, Ogden Fire Department and West Valley City Fire Department. "It's always dependent on the types of disasters that strike the U.S.," said Barker. "Depending on the size and scope they can go fairly deep into that pool of resources and this one just happens to be one of those events."Utah Task Force 1 is one of 28 federal Federal Emergency Management Agency Urban Search & Rescue Task Forces in the United States.
