State authorities have filed a second lawsuit against TikTok, accusing the company of intentionally allowing juveniles to be sexually exploited on the social media platform's LIVE feature for financial profits, including their own.
According to a statement released by the Utah Department of Commerce, the profits that have been gained by TikTok through the sexual exploitation of minors have amounted to millions of dollars in Utah alone.Authorities went on to explain how the complainant shared that TikTok managers have been allowing additional criminal activity to take place on the platform, including money laundering, the hosting of illegal gambling rings, the sale of drugs, and terrorism funding.
