LOGAN—Utah State University President Elizabeth Cantwell announced Thursday she is leaving the school for a position at a university in Washington. \This is a wonderful opportunity for President Cantwell, and we wish her very well in this next chapter. The board is aware of and focused on the opportunities and needs at Utah State University and will soon name an interim president and outline the presidential search process, a statement from the Utah Board of Higher Education said.
\Cantwell will wrap up her time at Utah State over the next few months and become the 12th president of Washington State University on April 1. Cantwell, who has a background in aerospace engineering, was chosen to be president of USU in 2023. \We look forward to partnering with the campus community and its many supporters to ensure a smooth transition and future success, the statement continued.
