The state senator whose district includes Utah State University told 2News he met with one USU representative over a purported transgender resident assistant assigned to a women's dorm suite—now plans a meeting with the university president—-and wants to know if the same dorm arrangement has played out before at USU and other state colleges and universities.
"I think there's a problem with that," said Wilson. "We talk about people being comfortable in a situation. I think that goes for transgender persons and our women co-eds.""We're looking into that," he said, "and not only Utah State; it may be at other universities. We're trying to put our arms around just how big a problem this really is.
Utah law, enacted last year, requires people in buildings to use the restrooms and locker rooms of their birth gender.
