Prosecutors continue to present jurors with new information in the murder case against Lori Vallow Daybell as testimony continues for the 15th day.
BOISE — Prosecutors have continued to release new information in the murder trial for Lori Vallow Daybell as the 15 day of testimony begins Tuesday.
Daybell is on trial for murder, conspiracy and grand theft in the deaths of her two children, 16-year-old Tylee Ryan and 7-year-old JJ Vallow. She is also charged with conspiracy in connection with Tammy Daybell's death, her husband's previous wife. On Monday, jurors learned bruises on Tammy Daybell's body indicate she may have been restrained when she died from being deprived of oxygen. Dr. Erik Christensen, Utah's chief medical examiner who performed her autopsy, said she had bruises from acute injuries that occurred likely in the hours before her death.A DNA analyst with the FBI, Keeley Coleman, said a piece of hair stuck to an adhesive belonged to Lori Daybell.
Coleman was not asked to testify where the hair came from, but previously investigators testified that they sent a hair for testing that was found on duct tape wrapped around JJ's body. Chad Daybell, Lori Daybell's husband, is charged with murder for the same three deaths and will face a separate trial at a later date. His attorneys requested a delay for his trial and argued evidence, like the DNA results from the hair, was not given to them in time to properly prepare for this trial.
