A Utah man who knew both Latter-day Saint missionaries killed in a North Dakota car crash said the pair were hard-working and dedicated to their missionary serv
ice.
Elder Gardner was from Riverton. He and his companion, Elder Kesler from Ely, Nevada, were wrapping up their time as missionaries at the time of their tragic deaths.A friend who knew both men, Parker Stilwell, said mission work and service meant everything to them. Stilwell has been home for about a year. He served as a missionary in the North Dakota Bismarck mission. While he had worked with both elders, he was Tommy’s companion — they lived and worked together for 12 weeks.
Combing through old photos and memories, Stilwell said the loss feels heavy, but he does believe he'll see his friends again. Still, his thoughts are with the elders’ families and friends.
