Utah lost a veteran quarterback to the transfer portal on Saturday evening.
Brandon Rose earned his first career start vs. BYU in 2024, but later was ruled out for the season with a Lisfranc injury.On Saturday evening, sophomore quarterback Brandon Rose announced his decision enter the portal on his X account, the social media site formerly known as Twitter.“My time at the University of Utah has truly been a blessing to say the least,” Rose said in his post. “I’ve been so thankful to be part of this amazing program.
In his three seasons with the Utes, Rose saw limited action and patiently waited behind the scenes for an opportunity to start. In 2024, after starting quarterback Cam Rising suffered a slew of injuries and freshman quarterback Isaac Wilson was benched, Rose finally earned his opportunity in the second half of Utah’s 17-14 loss to Houston.
After that contest, Rose started his first career contest vs. in-state rival BYU. In that game he finished with 112 passing yards, 55 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns. He was later ruled out for the season on Nov. 14 with a Lisfranc injury he sustained in the loss to the Cougars.Tooele’s historic Broadway Hotel site became a toxic debris pile.
