Carney is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations to help ensure maritime security and stability in the Middle East region. There were no casualties, but the attacks only intensified. The Houthis launched missiles and drones into the Red Sea, targeting vessels from over 40 countries around the world.
Chief Naval Operations Admiral Lisa Franchetti welcomed the destroyer back to the United States on May 10. “You saved lives, ensured the free flow of commerce, and stood up for the rules-based international order and all the values that we hold dear.
