USPS will not deliver mail on Thursday.

President Joe Biden declared Jan. 9 as a National Day of Mourning. It is the same day the official state funeral for Carter will be held at the Washington National Cathedral.

As a result of the designation, the Postal Service will not deliver mail. Its offices and facilities will be closed, but there will be “limited package delivery service on that day to ensure the organization does not experience any negative impacts to its package delivery operations.”All Postal Service facilities are also required to fly the U.S. flag at half-staff through sunset on Jan. 29 to honor Carter.Biden is expected to deliver a eulogy at Carter’s funeral.

The last time a National Day of Mourning was held was in December 2018 following the death of former President George H.W. Bush.Florida woman arrested after accidentally texting sheriff’s dept.
