USC students sue for tuition and dining refunds amid coronavirus disruption

A lawsuit announced Tuesday seeks refunds for students who, as a result of the coronavirus closures, lost out on in-person instruction, housing, meals and other elements of campus life and were not paid back tuition and fees.

Coronavirus: Gov. Newsom announced donations and other efforts to provide computers to students during closures, but it falls far shortfor spring or summer sessions. He said the university did provide prorated housing and dining fee refunds to students who vacated university housing.

“USC pivoted immediately to deliver quality instruction in an online format,” the university said. “Faculty and staff have worked tirelessly to connect with students to ensure that academic work continues on track and that progress toward the completion of a USC degree continues.
