30 athletes from 14 states gathered at the Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum to compete for a spot on the final roster.
AUBURN, Ala. - The first-ever USA wheelchair handball national team tryouts are being held at Auburn University Friday through Sunday.
30 athletes from 14 states gathered at Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum, competing to make the final 10-person roster. Most come with backgrounds in other wheelchair sports. “A lot of the chair skills that we’ve learned through wheelchair basketball apply,” said player Mackenzie Johnson. “I think the rules and the court are just different and learning to play with a different ball, but I think a lot of the same rules apply.”
