Trinity Rodman’s goal delivers victory following ugly match: ‘Not all soccer is pretty soccer’

And that, if nothing else, is where this group has taken the biggest strides in the two short months since Hayes, the longtime Chelsea women’s coach, arrived following the conclusion of the European season. They can do more than out-athlete overmatched opponents that don’t have millions of girls playing youth soccer and thousands of scholarships available to play in college. They can win ugly.
