In the test conducted by the YouTube channel, the anti-drone bullet was able to take down multiple UAVs from a distance.

Bullet s are the newest counter-drone measure being tested in the United States, which aim to replace or help the more common laser weapons, electronic warfare equipment, and even other unmanned aerial vehicles.

The specialized 5.56×45 mm anti-drone bullets are made with the intent to provide ground troops an option to turn their standard-issue assault rifle into an anti-drone weapon. The bullets are said to be effective in close range and don’t require any special modification, adapter, muzzle, or optics of the assault rifle. The 5.56×45 mm bullet can be shot from any standard NATO round-firing rifle, such as the AR-15, SIG MCX, among others. All that is required for turning an ordinary assault rifle into an anti-drone weapon is swapping the magazine filled with anti-drone rounds. The anti-drone bulletThe bullet, which can take down drones, was recently tested by the YouTube channel Administrative Results. The bullet fires multiple projectiles, which keep on spreading as the distance between the shooter and the target increases. The multiple projectiles increase the chance of a successful hit on the enemy drone, and the pellets can also hit and destroy various parts of the UAV – such as rotors, engine, or the payload – leading to ultimate destruction. In the test done by the YouTube channel, the anti-drone bullet was able to take down multiple UAVs from a distance. The video reveals the damage it can cause and the protection it can offer to ground forces. Moreover, it is much easier to carry and operate than many other counter-drone measures in the market today. It is also substantially cheaper than almost all other systems designed to take down UAVs, and can be handed down to troops and security agencies as a sort of last resort for taking down threats. The anti-drone round tested in the video was made by Drone Round. One of the owners of the company explained that the round has a different speed than regular bullets to ensure the swift takedown of the low-speeding target. At about 82 to 114 feet , the bullet forms a destruction zone of about 11-15 inches . The destruction zone almost doubles at 130 to 165 feet .Ukraine had tested similar systems earlierWhile it could be the first instance of the anti-drone round being tested in the US, Ukrainian forces had been testing a similar bullet earlier. The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has seen a rapid and unprecedented surge in the use of drones by both sides. To protect its forces, civilians, and infrastructure, Kyiv had unveiled 5.56 mm rounds earlier this year. The rounds were fitted with a custom warhead that bursts upon firing, spraying fragments in multiple directions. The upgrade was aimed at allowing soldiers to engage with fast-moving drones and reconnaissance UAVs using their regular infantry rifles.A government representative had said that their goal was to provide at least one magazine of the anti-drone round to every Ukrainian soldier on the battlefield. According to the latest reports, Ukraine has launched full-scale production of anti-drone ammunition.
