'To me, that is how you learn, when you get out of your comfort zone'
Student's from four US universities have arrived in Belfast this week to take part in a new International Summer School which is being delivered in partnership between St Mary's University College and Féile an Phobail.
"We have been working with Féile an Phobail since the origin of the festival," John Brolly from St Mary's University College told Belfast Live. Among the activities, the students heard from political commentators David McCann, Sarah Creighton, Gary Murphy and journalist Allison Morris on the pressing political issues of the day.
Taking time away from the field, James Madison University Student, Connor Carlisle said that watching Aussie Rules meant that he had a bit of an understanding when it came to the sports.Reflecting on the discussion aspect of the programme, Connor said that he was struck by how well communities are working together.
The Dean at the faculty of Education at James Madison University, Dr. Mark L'Esperance said that it has been wonderful seeing his students exposed to new cultures and discourse.
