Pennsylvania U.S. Sen. Bob Casey is pushing a new bipartisan bill that would crack down on the supply chain for fentanyl.

The Fentanyl Eradication and Narcotics Deterrence Off Fentanyl Act would work to stop the flow of fentanyl into the county by cutting off international sources.In a statement, Casey said he specifically wants to crack down on Chinese producers and Mexican cartels.'In order to combat the opioid epidemic ravaging Pennsylvania communities, we must stop the flow of fentanyl onto our streets.

We need to crack down on the Chinese producers of synthetic fentanyl and the Mexican cartels that bring it across the border by hitting them where it hurts – their bottom line,' Casey said.According to the CDC Wonder, Stateline analysis, accidental drug overdoses were the No. 1 cause for Pennsylvanians under the age of 40 in 2022. In all, 5,200 Pennsylvanians died from overdoses last year.
