US confirms first two monkeypox cases among children, CDC officials say as more than 2,500 cases have been identified in the country
A person arrives to receive a monkeypox vaccination at the Northwell Health Immediate Care Center at Fire Island-Cherry Grove, in New York, U.S., July 15, 2022. One is a toddler in California and the other is an infant who is not a US resident but was tested while in Washington, DC, said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday.
“I don’t think its surprising that we are occasionally going to see cases” outside that social network, the CDC's Jennifer McQuiston told reporters Friday. “People don't crawl on each other's beds unless they are living in the same house or family,” he said.In Europe, there have been at least six monkeypox cases among kids 17 years old and younger.
