The Associated Press has declared incumbent Democratic Rep. Mike Quigley the winner in the 5th Congressional District.
This was the fourth time commercial real estate agent Tom Hanson ran as a Republican for the seat, and the third time he squared off against Quigley, a Democrat, in a district that now winds from north of downtown through Lincoln Park and Wrigleyville and then twists northwest through
the city and suburbs all the way to Lake Zurich.Quigley launched a local political campaign committee and polled potential voters about a potential run for Chicago mayor before announcing this April that he would not enter the race.Also on the ballot was Independent Jerico Matias Cruz.
