On Monday, Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene spread a baseless, transphobic rumour that blamed the country's ongoing tampon shortage on trans people.
pointed to a July 2020 Tampax advertisement featuring Amy Schumer, which they said caused demand for the company's tampons to go up by 8% over two years.
On her podcast, Greene claimed there was a"war on women" and called out places that"put tampons in men's bathrooms." While she didn't specify where such activities were taking place, some public venues like businesses andGreene also tweeted about the issue, doubling down on her stance.
