All four individuals on board were killed. Officials at Camp Pendleton in California, where Durham was stationed, confirmed his death and released a statement honoring his service. The U.S. Indo-Pacific Command Public Affairs stated that the flight was part of routine security cooperation activities between the United States and the Philippines. The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines also confirmed the crash and reported that the bodies of the four victims were recovered from the wreckage in Ampatuan. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation. Witnesses in the area reported seeing smoke coming from the plane and hearing an explosion before it crashed about half a mile from a group of farmhouses.Sgt. Durham was trained as an electronic intelligence/electromagnetic warfare analyst and served with the 1st Radio Battalion, I Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group. He joined the Marines in January 2021 and was promoted to his current rank on February 1st. His decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, a Meritorious Mast, and Naval Aircrew Insignia. Lt. Col. Mabel B. Annunziata, commanding officer of the 1st Radio Battalion, described Durham as embodying the highest traditions of the Marine Corps, exemplifying composure, intelligence, and selfless leadership.
