The White House has reversed a previous decision to halt the delivery of powerful bombs to Israel, igniting renewed criticism over US support for Israel in the ongoing Gaza war.
The United States has faced longstanding criticism for its unwavering support of Israel in the protracted conflict in Gaza, where over 47,000 people, predominantly women and children, have perished. Adding to the controversy, a report by an online outlet, citing three Israel i officials, reveals that the White House has directed the Pentagon to rescind a hold implemented by the Biden administration on the supply of 2,000-pound bombs to Israel .
According to the report, the Pentagon informed the Israeli government of this policy shift on Friday. It is anticipated that 1,800 MK-84 bombs will be loaded onto a vessel and delivered to Israel in the coming days.Last May, then-President Joe Biden halted the delivery of a weapons consignment that included 2,000-pound bombs utilized by Israel to demolish vast areas of Gaza. This decision followed mounting pressure from certain US lawmakers, including Senator Bernie Sanders, who persistently advocate for the cessation of US arms supplies to Israel and an end to American complicity in Israel's Gaza campaign.
