Isabel Sandoval, a Filipino filmmaker based in the US, is reportedly heading back to the Philippines for the shooting of her upcoming film, “Moonglow,” with actor and politician Arjo Atayde.
According to Hollywood media outlet Deadline, the film will begin its production in the Philippines on April 9. It is produced by Daluyong Studios’ “Moonglow” will revolve around a corrupt female police detective in Manila during the 1970s who spearheaded a heist but got partnered with an honest detective to uncover the crime she had committed.
Sandoval had revealed that the film will be tackling certain elements from the Philippine crime and political scene, further dealing with the themes of how one may come to lose their moral compass. Sandoval is known for directing the 2019 film “Lingua Franca,” which was acquired by Netflix and ARRAY in North America as well as JHR Films in France. She has also directed a few episodes of television shows such as “Under The Banner Of Heaven” and “The Summer I Turned Pretty.”Some of the filmmaker’s works have been presented in international film festivals such as the Venice Film Festival, the Locarno Film Festival, Hawaii International Film Festival, among many others.
Atayde is known for his roles in television shows as part of the main cast such as “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” “Hanggang Saan,” “The General’s Daughter,” and “24/7.” While serving as a member of the Philippines’ House of Representatives following his win during the 2022 elections as a representative in Quezon City’s first congressional district, Atayde has continued his acting career with some of his most recent shows being “Cattleya Killer.
