The US government is pursuing legal action against the owners and operators of the cargo ship Dali following its collision with the Key Bridge in Baltimore. The Justice Department alleges that negligence led to the accident, resulting in millions of dollars in damages.

In statements, spokespeople for the FBI and the U.S. Attorney's Office in Maryland confirmed that authorities boarded the Maersk Saltoro. The ship is managed by Synergy Marine Group.

The Dali cargo ship that collided into the Key Bridge in Baltimore has been refloated and is on its way back to the port Monday morning. In its lawsuit, the Justice Department argued that vessel owners and operators need to be “deterred from engaging in such reckless and exceedingly harmful behavior."
