A double to Tamika Upton in the final 10 minutes of the game sealed victory for Newcastle in Sunday afternoon.
Ahead of the season, skipper Hannah Southwell warned they were building an empire out in Newcastle, and after downing the Titans 24-18 in Sunday’s decider, it is starting to ring true.
Newcastle trailed 18-12 with 10 minutes left, as the players battled to find whatever mileage they had left in their legs in 36-degree heat. The opening 10 minutes was similarly all about the Titans and their dogged attack paid off with the first of Chapman’s tries in the 13th minute. With that, Newcastle were away, and off the back of Titans error, Gallagher scored down the right touch line thanks to the help of Parker.
