This handy Workflow Station from Kingston is a great way of speeding yup a photography or videography workflow by transferring footage and images at high speed to a computer.
Kingston’s Workflow Station Dock and Readers give photographers the freedom to create and customize their own uploading workflow , enabling them to transfer video, photos and audio from multiple sources, possibly at the same time. Whether the user has been on a 4K/8K multi-cam shoot, with portable audio recorders, or filming extra scenes using drones and GoPros, there’s clearly the need for speed.
I tested the Workflow Station Dock with the USB miniHub that comes with it. This Reader has USB-A and a USB-C ports for connecting cameras, audio recorers or video cameras. Kingston also sells dual-slot Readers for SD cards or microSD cards and these are bought separately. Up to four Readers can be slotted into the Workflow Dock at the same time and the Dock has its own power supply. The Dock supports USB 3.2 Gen 2 speeds, while the Readers support USB 3.2 Gen 1 speeds.
The build quality of the Kingston Workflow Station is excellent and Readers can be slotted into the dock and then left while the files are uploaded and the photographer pops off for a well-earned coffee. Everything gets uploaded at a speed likely to be much faster than most standalone memory card readers.
