KOTA KINABALU: Upko president Datuk Seri Madius Tangau is calling on all state representatives from Sabah and Sarawak to support the proposal to name Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal as Malaysia’s ninth Prime Minister.
Madius, who is Tuaran MP, said if Sabah and Sarawak truly believe that they are equal partners with Peninsular Malaysia in this federation, there is no reason why they won’t support the proposal.
“But now, there’s a proposal to have Shafie become the ninth Prime Minister, so I humbly seek the support of all state representatives from Sabah and Sarawak to support this proposal,” he said in a statement on Sunday . Madius said although this proposal was informal and the meeting was not earlier known to Upko, they have no reason to say no to the suggestion.
