A new style of the popular Retro OG Musik sneaker by the basketball legend is set to release on January 30, featuring diamond grills, gold jewelry, and Roman numeral branding.
Some anecdotes have said the basketball legend has a disdain for the music, while Jordan’s own spokesperson has refuted the claims, stating he’s a fan of “all” genres.
And while we may never hear it from Jordan himself, an upcoming style of one of his most popularRetro OG “Musik” will reportedly take a page from the flashy fashion of late 1990s and early 2000s hip-hop. Specifically, the upcoming release will reference diamond grills and gold jewelry through various metallic details and accessories.
An in-hand look at the new style has yet to surface, but a speculative mock-up was provided and is said to offer an accurate look at what fans can expect when the sneaker arrives at retail early next year.4 Retro OG Musik will don a khaki-colored upper that’s broken up with black details throughout, including on the shoe’s midsole, tongue, heel tab and signature breathable netting. Metallic gold comes into play on the TPU support wings, tongue branding and at the heel, which has been given a first-of-its-kind studded tab.
The heel also includes a unique detail in its branding, which is expected to spell out Jordan’s number, 23, in Roman numerals across the left and right shoes. Lastly, the new4 Retro OG style is set to come with a silver Jumpman hangtag that’s encrusted with diamond-like gems. This update comes by way of @zsneakerheadz, Sneaker Files and Sneaker Market Romania, who add that the sneaker will be released on Jan. 30 for a retail price of $230.
