The upcoming animated movie Transformers One has had its release date pushed back by Paramount. The animated film will be directed by Toy Story 4 director Josh Cooley and see Chris Hemsworth take on the voice role of a young Optimus Prime on Cybertron. The movie was originally set to release on July 19, 2024.
Now, Deadline reports that Transformers One has had its release date pushed back to later in the year. Transformers One now has a new release date of September 13, 2024. This means moviegoers eagerly awaiting an animated movie set on Cybertron will have to wait a little longer for it to come out. SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Everything We Know About Transformers One Along with Hemsworth as Optimus Prime, the cast of Transformers One will see Godzilla vs. Kong star Brian Tyree Henry as Megatron, leader of the Decepticons. Autobots in the cast include Keegan Michael Key as Bumblebee, Jon Hamm as Sentinel Prime, and Scarlett Johansson as Elita. Laurence Fishburne will also be joining the cast as Alpha Trion, one of the oldest Transformers on Cybertron.
While details about Transformers One are sparse, the story seems like it will chronicle the fall of Cybertron, Megatron's rise to power, and how Optimus Prime formed the Autobots. It also appears to be separate from the live-action film series, which is set to continue with Transformers: Rise of the Beasts in June. Because of this, it's difficult to predict where Transformers One will go and what its new continuity will establish.
Transformers One is promising a wholly new adventure in the Transformers franchise, so it makes sense for the film to be pushed back to make sure it's of high-quality when released. A star-studded cast including Hemsworth and Henry in the lead roles highlights how big the film is setting out to be. With plenty left to be revealed, it seems Transformers One will be a major new addition to the long-running franchise as a whole.
