THE University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons look to keep their winning streak going when they face off against the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023 in the UAAP Season 86 Men’s Basketball Tournament at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.UP assistant coach Christian Luanzon, said he does not expect the undefeated Fighting Maroons to have a seamless game in the 4 p.m. showdown with the Growling Tigers—a team that has lost its first four games in the competition.

“It’s very important for us not to take anyone lightly, to play with confidence, and at the same time, give our opponents the respect they deserve,” he said. The Growling Tigers are still searching for ways to give head coach Pido Jarencio his first victory in his second UAAP tour of duty.Except for a 76-79 overtime loss to Adamson, all of UST’s defeats were by double digits, including last Wednesday’s 69-87 loss to National University.
