GEORGE TOWN: A UOB Malaysia employee has been tested positive with Covid-19 and admitted for further treatment at Penang Hospital.
In a statement by the bank, the employee, who is a despatch clerk attached at the Lebuh Bishop branch in Penang, had attended a four-day tabligh missionary gathering in Masjid Sri Petaling, Selangor, between 27th February and 1st March.
"We have initiated our contact tracing exercise and notified our employees who have come into close contact with the said employee. "They have been asked to self-quarantine for a period of 14 days, while awaiting further instructions from the health authorities," the statement said.It also stated that the management of the bank are working closely with the health authorities on further follow-up measures and health precaution steps.
In ensuring the safety of the employees and customers, the bank will be closing its Lebuh Bishop branch on March 16 so that it can conduct a deep-clean in the bank premises.Customers may proceed to the branch at Jalan Kelawei to carry out their banking needs. UOB Malaysia also wishes to reassure its customers and its employees that it is implementing all necessary preventive measures to help curb the spread of Covid-19.
