It took more than 30 years to identify him. Now that investigators know who this man was, can they figure out who killed him?
The body of David Kaziateck was found buried in a shallow grave back in 1988.CLEVELAND, Ohio - He was unidentified for 35 years. But the mystery of who killed him and why remains unanswered.
A farmer made a disturbing discovery back in 1988 as he was clearing a field in Paris Township off Cable Line Road. That field is now filled with weeds and new trees. Detectives Springer and Karl Balasz went out to the scene to see if cadaver dogs could find his exact gravesite all of these years later.Detectives also studied the clues left behind.“He was wearing a t-shirt, a pledge shirt, a blue jacket and socks. He didn’t have pants. He didn’t have underwear. He didn’t have shoes,” Springer said. That shiny item the farmer spotted was a prosthetic used to repair a broken hip.“And they didn’t start linking a prosthetic to a person until 1988.
“So now we went from a who is it to a whodunit kind of thing, because now we know who it is. We need to figure out who murdered him,” Springer said. His gravesite sat unmarked at Hawley Cemetery.
