Dreary spring weather with temperatures far below seasonal norms has slowed business along the city’s Riverwalk as well as at many other businesses in the city.

“I’m losing a couple of hives and their queens are looking at me like ‘What did you take us from?’ ” Fischer joked. “We’re not going to go out of business, but it’s definitely cutting into my expansion plans,” Fischer told the Tribune on another chilly, overcast day. “It’s a pretty big kick in the pants after COVID.”

Tracie Irvine, marketing and events director for The Northman Beer & Cider Garden, said the beer garden’s scheduled opening last Friday was delayed because of the weather. The Northman will attempt to open again Thursday, when temperatures are expected to peak in the mid-60s.
“I think it’s frustrating for everybody but it’s the nature of the outdoor business. It’s just something we have to roll with the punches,” she said.
