A newly unsealed criminal complaint alleges that a Summerville man accused of threatening the president wrote on his car that he was going to kill Donald Trump.

According to court documents, law enforcement received a 911 call on April 29 regarding Swain’s vehicle. The caller reported “threatening words written on the exterior” of the vehicle at the car wash on Lake Pine Drive. When officers arrived, they saw “HEADED TO WSH TO KILL THE PRES” written on the driver’s side door. On the back of the vehicle was “TELL DONALD HE IS FIRED,” along with the phrase “Double Tap Not.

When officers searched the vehicle, they found a drone and two containers believed to contain methamphetamine.

Swain initially attempted to evade arrest and later told investigators he “almost fled on foot” when officers first approached, according to court documents. During an interview with law enforcement, Swain was evasive when answering questions about the vehicle and his trips to Washington. He told investigators he visited the nation’s capital in the winter spanning 2025 into 2026 to “take action,” later clarifying he intended to legally protest.

Swain said he visited the White House, the Capitol and monuments, and told agents he “wussed out of doing what he was going to do,” according to court documents. When asked to clarify, Swain said his motivation for writing the threats on the vehicle stemmed from what he described as the wrongful deaths of his father, uncle and grandfather, who all served in the military and died under “suspicious health-related circumstances,” according to court documents.

He also admitted to writing the threats on the vehicle, investigators said. Swain had previously been interviewed Jan. 1, 2025, regarding a threatening Facebook post that stated if the “president’s father was shot, it would gather more attention. ” Fred Trump Sr., the father of former President Donald Trump, died June 25, 1999.

Additionally, on April 16, 2026, Swain posted on Facebook: “Man if I see goddamn Donald Trump’s sorry ass one more time on this f------ phone. Somebody oughta go put a round in his f------ head and then do it to his son and do it to his wife and then do it to the rest of Congress.

”Following the interview, Swain was charged by the Apex Police Department with possession of methamphetamine, resisting an officer and having a fictitious or altered registration. He was later arrested by the U.S. Secret Service on a federal charge of making threats against the president and successors to the presidency.he's an Army veteran with mental health problems, including PTSD, and is considered 100% disabled from the military.

His Facebook posts include dozens of rants criticizing the government for the death of his family members. Additionally, he calls out presidents, past and present. Court records show that as of publishing, Swain is set for an initial appearance before Magistrate Judge Robert T. Numers II on Monday, May 4, in Raleigh. This is at least the fourth known threat to Trump in the last two years.

Most recently, on the evening of April 25, Cole Tomas Allen allegedly ran through security at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner in an attempt to kill Trump. Allen, 31, is currently in jail facing charges related to that assassination attempt. Ontario County is investigating a suspected case of locally acquired hantavirus, according to a release from Kate Ott, the county's public health director. Rochester, N.Y.
