Unrivaled, a groundbreaking new women's professional basketball league, is poised to revolutionize the landscape of women's sports. Founded by two WNBA stars, Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx and Breanna Stewart of the New York Liberty, Unrivaled features a roster of talented WNBA players, representing a significant advancement in the promotion and visibility of women's basketball .The league adopts a unique 3-on-3 format, contrasting with the traditional 5-on-5 style.
Unrivaled games will be played on a condensed 70-foot-by-50-foot court, smaller than the Olympic 3x3 half court and the full WNBA court, fostering an exhilarating and fast-paced style of play. Each matchup will consist of four quarters, complete with a game clock and shot clock, ensuring a dynamic and strategic experience for both players and spectators. The season will span nine weeks, culminating in a thrilling playoff stage in March, where the top four teams will battle for the championship.Adding another layer of excitement, Unrivaled will host a one-on-one single-elimination tournament in February, aiming to crown the world's best 1v1 player. The league's commitment to showcasing diverse talents and pushing the boundaries of basketball is evident in its innovative format and the inclusion of this unique competition. Thirty-six players have been carefully selected and divided into six teams: the Laces Basketball Club, Lunar Owls Basketball Club, Mist Basketball Club, Phantom Basketball Club, Rose Basketball Club, and Vinyl Basketball Club. The inaugural Unrivaled games will commence on January 17th in the Miami area, featuring a doubleheader broadcast on TNT Sports platforms.
