UPDATE: The University Park Airport deemed safe after the detection of a suspicious package in checked luggage closed the airport to air traffic and passengers. Airport will resume normal operations at 4 a.m.
After the University Park Airport in State College, Pennsylvania closed to air traffic and passengers following the detection of a suspicious package in checked luggage, experts were able to determine the suspicious contents were safe and there was no threat to the airport.The scene at the airport is being cleared.
The Hazardous Device Team was able to render safe the suspicious contents of a checked bag at the University Park Airport. There is no current threat. The airport will return to normal operation at 4:00 a.m.
