their careers.“After four years of college, and four years of medical school, they’ve applied to residencies in a variety of different specialties all across the country," said Dr. David Lambert, M.D. the Senior Associate Dean for medical student education at the university. "Everybody remembers their match day because it really sets the stage for where you’re going to go and what you’re going to do in the years ahead.

Many students pointed out that the concept of "Match Day" might sound strange to those working in other fields. "It’s a really weird process, most jobs don’t work like this," said Emmy Wheaton, who was matched with the Golisano Children's Hospital to work in pediatrics.“I wanted to work with children before I knew I wanted to be a doctor," she said. "I’m so excited.”

Some students applied to and were matched with locations outside of the area, but the Rochester area is gaining 30 new trainees."I'm going to Baylor! Houston, Texas," said Hall. "It feels good, this moment feels good, this has been a dream since high school, and just to see this journey, so see everything unravel right here, right now is a moment I can’t really describe.”“I came here because I wanted to make a change, wanted to make a difference," he said.
