CLEVELAND, Ohio — University Circle Inc. said it plans to demolish a 346-space parking garage used by Case Western Reserve University employees, students and visitors.on its website that the garage at 1980 Ford Drive, which dates to the late 1960s, “has exceeded its useful lifespan and it is necessary to demolish the structure for the safety of the community.”
Permit holders will be notified when the garage will officially close both by signs and statements on the agency’s website. The spokeswoman, Becky Voldrich, said the garage will close on June 30.The lot sits across from historic Hessler Road, a segment of the neighborhood that can feel less like Cleveland and more like the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco, famous for producing the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane in the 1960s.
At the time, University Circle Inc. pledged to make parking spots available for residents living in the new apartments. Voldrich said that commitment “remains intact.
