Universal Studios Hollywood on Tuesday announced the Los Angeles theme park would reopen April 16.

Universal Studios Hollywood on Tuesday announced the Los Angeles theme park would reopen on April 16. Tickets go on sale Thursday, April 8.

“We are incredibly thrilled to finally be able to open Universal Studios Hollywood, return team members to work and welcome guests back to enjoy our amazing rides,” Karen Irwin, President & COO, Universal Studios Hollywood said in a statement. “It has been a very challenging year and we are overjoyed to have arrived at this moment.”

Universal Studios, like the rest of the major theme parks in Southern California, has been shuttered since March of last year. However, the City Walk shopping and dining area has been available since July. Universal also recently announced it wouldDue to state pandemic restrictions, capacity at the theme park will be greatly capped. Also, for the moment, only California residents will be allowed to visit, due to state tier pandemic regulations.Tuesday's news came not long after the Disneyland announcement that the theme park was reopening on April 30.
