Universal is aiming for the theme park holy grail in Frisco | Opinion
A rendering of what will be a Universal Studios theme park in Frisco on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023.The holy grail of modern-day themed entertainment lies somewhere between a thousand-dollar day at a Disney park and the petri dish of toddler bacteria at the local pizza arcade. He or she who discovers the formula that permits a family to spend a day enjoying world-class entertainment experiences together, without mortgaging their house, is guaranteed endless riches and the respect of a nation.
At the gate of the proposed development lies what appears to be a Dreamworks Animation-themed hotel, said to feature 300 rooms and a location next to a PGA National Resort, so presumably dad can golf while mom and the kids dance to “I Like to Move It, Move It.” When this park opens, it will no longer be necessary to travel to the coasts to enjoy what we expect will be world-class entertainment experiences, but it also won’t cannibalize the existing domestic Universal resorts, since those parks don’t currently offer much of a Dreamworks Animation experience — except for aattraction and a single land at Epic Universe.
