Universal Studio Group has announced the development of its two newest TV projects in form of The Munsters reboot and Car Wash TV series.

Described as a darker reimagining of the iconic 1960s horror sitcom The Munsters, the reboot titled 1313 hails from executive producers James Wan, Lindsey Anderson Beer, Ingrid Bisu, Michael Clear and Rob Hackett, with Beer also set as the showrunner. It is expected to take place within the Universal Monsterverse. The series is a production by UCP, Atomic Monster and Lab Brew.

At the moment, the project currently has no network or streaming service attached to it. This won’t be the first time that Universal attempted to make The Munsters reboot. Their most recent effort was the NBC pilot Mockingbird Lane, which only aired as a Halloween special. The original series was created by Allan Burns and Chris Hayward. It was a satire of American suburban life involving a family of monsters.

As for the Car Wash TV series, Universal Television has partnered with NBC to develop a modern-day series adaptation of the Richard Pryor-led 1976 movie, which was originally set in Los Angeles. The classic comedy also starred comedy legends George Carlin, Garrett Morris, Franklyn Ajaye, and more. The project will be written and executive produced by Opey Olagbaju. Malcolm D.

“Set in Washington, DC, the Car Wash series follows an immigrant family’s generational and cultural clashes between father and son and their eclectic group of employees,” reads the logline.Maggie Dela Paz has been writing about the movie and TV industry for more than four years now. Besides being a fan of coming-of-age films and shows, she also enjoys watching K-Dramas and listening to her favorite K-Pop groups.
