More than a month after announcing it would suspend its daily nonstop to LAX, United said it has reconsidered and will now add a second flight beginning Oct. 30.
United Airlines announced Monday that it has decided to continue daily nonflight service between San Diego and Los Angeles — after saying last month it intended to end the one-hour flight.“We re-reviewed internal data and determined that there was enough demand based on a number of factors to continue to serve the route and add a second daily flight,” said United spokeswoman Maddie King., it did not say why the decision had been made.
In addition to the existing 6:30 a.m. flight, United will also be offering one other nonstop, which will depart at 10:30 a.m. Both flights will be on an Embraer 175 operated by United Express partner, SkyWest Airlines.According to figures provided by the San Diego International Airport, there were 35,810 passengers last year who flew from San Diego to Los Angeles on United. Roughly 66 percent of the total available seats — 54,460 — were occupied.
Delta Air Lines is the only other carrier providing nonstop service between San Diego and Los Angeles.
