Keep it succinct and easy for the hiring manager to read quickly. You want to write a note, not a dissertation. You can type the letter and print it out, or go old school and hand write it. Make up a quick template with your name and contact information at the top for an even more professional touch, and always sign the letter by hand.Calling the hiring manager directly isn’t recommended as that could be interpreted as being too direct or too pushy, so voicemail is the better option.

Don’t forget to introduce yourself on the voicemail. You don’t want the hiring manager to have to guess which candidate left them the message. Start by saying ‘Hi Hiring Manager, this is My Name calling,’ and take it from there.
