The Finance Sector Union will fight to enshrine ANZ employees’ right to work from home in an enterprise-bargaining agreement.

ANZ staff will have the right to work from home enshrined in their enterprise bargaining agreement if the Finance Sector Union is successful in its negotiations with the bank this month.

The Finance Sector Union will fight for ANZ staff to have a right to work from home enshrined in their EBA.Wendy Streets, the FSU’s Queensland secretary, said the EBA negotiations were an opportunity for ANZ “to respect their employees’ ability to work flexibly by ensuring these arrangements continue in an [EBA]”.WFH workers just ‘as productive’

In its log of claims, the FSU said 79 per cent of ANZ staff surveyed indicated it was important to retain the option of working from home in future. But it said “safeguards” must be installed to prevent staff from working too many hours and to ensure they are not rewarded for being constantly connected.

In addition to pushing for a right to work from home, the union said employees “must be assured of their right to disconnect at the conclusion of their working day”.Chaired by the Greens, the Senate Select Committee on Work and Care recommended in its final report last month that the government introduce a legislated “right to disconnect” to address an erosion in workplace boundaries driven by technology and worsened by the pandemic.

The union is also calling for religious and cultural observance leave for employees with diverse backgrounds; mental health first aid training; improved gender affirmation rights and leave; and the introduction of menstrual and menopause leave.the first employer in Australia to enshrine the right to work from home in an EBA
