Union Cellars, a winery in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, is celebrating its fifth anniversary. Opened in late May 2020 during the pandemic, the winery has thrived thanks to its diverse selection of wines, outdoor space, and community support.
Union Cellars opened in late May 2020, during a time when the pandemic had so many businesses shut down. That's now a distant memory, as the Lewisburg producer is getting set to celebrate its fifth birthday.Mark and Jillian Rogers opened their business located at 4760 Furnace Road in Lewisburg, Union County, on May 29, 2020. At that point, he wrote PennLive in an email sent earlier this week, there was no turning back.
Jillian told PennLive in the January 2021 story that they had enjoyed “an incredible first six months of business” and that the local support had been encouraging. “We were blessed with a beautiful summer and found many people seeking safe, outdoor options for entertainment. We have a large stamped concrete patio and large grassy area by the vineyard that afforded us the ability to host lots of happy wine drinkers and groups.
As far as food, Union Cellars sells small snacks — nuts, chips and trail mix — along with charcuterie boards. On the weekends it also offers pretzels with beer cheese, warm baguettes with dipping oil and naan with hummus.A, 2024 was a great year for us. We saw a lot of growth in many aspects of the business: private events, wine club members, and foot traffic all increased.
