A WhatsApp message, which appears to be part of a hate campaign against the Rohingya, alleges that the refugees get RM1,035 a month.
“They get paid for nothing and also get paid for illegally working here. Everything is free for them. No need to pay taxes,” read the message. “It is also untrue that refugees benefit from government assistance, such as public welfare and health subsidies. “Regrettably, due to very limited budget allocations, such support can only be given to very few families.”
