The Singleton Roosters have opened up about their “heartache, distress, sadness” after at least seven people linked to the football club lost their lives in the Hunter Valley bus crash.
Ten people were killed and dozens more injured after a coach carrying 35 wedding guests overturned near a roundabout in Greta last Sunday night.
A week on from the tragedy which rocked the nation, Singleton Roosters AFC President Dylan Hixon addressed the media to express the enormous devastation felt across the community. “The club extends its deepest sympathies to the families who have lost loved ones. Our thoughts are with everyone close to each person involved including those who have passed away and suffered injuries.
“Our club has been formed out of great people and the relationships fostered within it and we’ll lean on each other through this incredible and difficult time with the memory of everyone that has been lost at the forefront of our thoughts.” Singleton Roosters members Andrew and Lynan Scott and Sydney Women’s AFL Masters club members Nadene and Kyah McBride were named among the 10 to lose their lives.
