Their first match was a 2-2 draw with Wayne Rooney’s side Plymouth Argyle. Following the draw, Pirates defeated seven-time Europa League champions Sevilla 2-0 before a 101 draw with Granada.
Orlando Pirates will conclude their pre-season tour with a clash against Qatari outfit Al-Sadd at Banùs Football Centre. An action-packed Spanish voyage closes with another exciting fixture, pitting one of South Africa’s top sides against Qatar’s most successful team. Pirates coach Jose Riveiro has tested out several combinations throughout the tour, and will likely shuffle his pack once more. The team looked sharp in most of their matches and are looking strong ahead of the new Premier League Soccer season.are expected to field a strong team but could be without Evidence Makgopa. The lanky striker was stretchered out midway through the first half against Granada. Riveiro could look to Tshegofatso Mabasa and Zakhele Lepasa in his absence.
Last season, Orlando Pirates ended their pre-season tour unbeaten having played more than eight matches. The Buccaneers eventually finished second in the league and won two cup titles. The match between the Buccaneers and Al-Sadd will not be stream on Pirates TV but will be televised on SuperSport 2. Kick-off is set for 19:30 on Friday, 19 July.
