Planning chiefs warned of a costly appeal if they refused permission
A large summer house built without permission at a property developer's £4m home has avoided a demolition order.

Coun Anne Fennell said: "I agree with councillors' comments. Maybe planning officers could give some advice on the location within the huge grounds?" But planning officer Katie Jones said: "There was no evidence of red squirrels from an advisor. Regarding retrospective planning applications, these can be frustrating for councillors and planning officers. But they are not criminal and our planning laws give the opportunity for retrospective applications. We have a responsibility to deal with them."
Reasons to refuse Coun Pope then recommended refusal, against the planning officers' advice, citing the impact on neighbours and the location. Mr Faulkner asked if he could be more precise. Coun Fowler suggested the only option was to cite the garden house as being 'over-bearing' in planning terms.
