A wedding photoshoot in the frontline city of Zaporizhzhia , Ukraine , was dramatically interrupted on Sunday evening, June 7, when a Russia n Shahed kamikaze drone was intercepted mid-air by Ukrainian air defences.
The couple, poses for photographer Eduard Kovsh, witnessed a blinding flash followed by a thunderous explosion as the drone was blown to pieces above them, sending burning wreckage raining down. The bride's horrified reaction-gasping 'Oh, it's going to fall somewhere now!
'-was captured on video, which quickly went viral after Kovsh shared it on Instagram with the caption: 'Here are the kinds of weddings we have in Zaporizhzhia. ' The incident underscores the harsh reality of life in a city that has faced near-daily bombardments throughout Russia's full-scale invasion. On the same day, a separate Russian drone struck an Ukrzaliznytsia train formation, damaging a locomotive, while another attack on the suburb of Balabino killed civilians.
Authorities reminded the public not to approach downed drone wreckage or unexploded ordnance, which can remain lethal. Zaporizhzhia, located on the Dnieper River about 200km from the front lines, remains a regular target due to its industrial significance and proximity to occupied territories. Despite more than four years of war, social media users noted Ukrainians' resilience in continuing to build families and find moments of happiness. The wedding footage drew thousands of views and comments praising this determination.
Meanwhile, the conflict escalated with Ukrainian strikes deep inside Russia. Earlier, a Ukrainian drone attack killed one person and injured three in Russia's southern Krasnodar region, damaging a Black Sea oil export terminal in Volna. Ukraine's General Staff confirmed hitting an oil preparation and pumping station in Russia's Volgograd region, as well as Russian-occupied areas in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukrainian FP-5 Flamingo missiles struck a military factory in Cheboksary, Chuvashiya region, over 560 miles from the front line, which supplied components for Russian drones and missiles
