Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of the Wagner Group, claimed in May that his mercenary fighters captured Bakhmut after nine months of intense fighting there.Now, however, Putin has endorsed the Defense Ministry's demand for volunteer formations, like Wagner, to sign contracts with the ministry. Prigozhin has already refused to sign any contracts.
The Ukraine Defense Support Group includes 54 countries, ranging from those in the NATO military alliance to non-members such as Australia, Japan, South Korea and Ireland.
