Kim Jong Un left Pyongyang on Sunday afternoon for Russia via his private train, state media KCNA reports; declassified intelligence shows that Russia targeted a civilian cargo ship in the Black Sea with multiple missiles last month, Rishi Sunak has revealed.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has arrived in Russia, Japanese media reported on Tuesday, for what the Kremlin said would be a comprehensive discussion with President Vladimir Putin amid warnings from Washington they should not agree on an arms deal.
"I am confident – there will be results. We are also making progress with our other partners, in particular, regarding air defence systems," he said. Meanwhile Russia's TASS new agency reports the North Korean leader will be accompanied by high-ranking government and military officials on his visit to Russia.
He added:"The UK's relationship with Ukraine has never been stronger, and we will continue to stand with Ukraine for as long as it takes." Following the success of cluster munitions delivered in 155mm artillery rounds in recent months, the US is considering shipping either or both Army Tactical Missile Systems that can fly up to 190 miles, or Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System missiles with a 45-mile range packed with cluster bombs. Ukraine is currently equipped with 155mm artillery with a maximum range of 18 miles, carrying up to 48 bomblets.
Kyiv has been pushing Berlin to supply the missiles, which have a range of more than 300 miles and are launched from fighter jets. But the United States has so far refrained from sending its ATACMS to Ukraine despite Kyiv's requests. They are mainly used to hit high-value targets behind enemy lines such as command bunkers, ammunitions and fuel dumps, airfields and bridges. Inadequate tax administration and weak support from the state were also cited as factors holding the country back. In a statement, the ministry said:"Russia has stopped even attempting to justify that these attacks are against legitimate military targets and is cynically targeting civilian infrastructure.
"President Putin was due to be in the region anyway for the Eastern Economic Forum, where he is trying to sell Russian goods to countries in East Asia.
